With 28 years experience commercially fishing the waters off Monomoy and outer Cape Cod, Captain Darren has the local knowledge and experience to put you on the fish and make your experience unforgettable.
Along with a USCG 50-Ton Masters License from New England Maritime and current CPR/First Aid Certification, Capt. Darren is a pro guide with the Yamaha National Fishing Team. A graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, he holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Sciences from Cornell University, class of 1999. While an intrinsic understanding of the waters is imperative, Darren’s understanding of physical oceanography and his willingness to share this knowledge with his patrons makes for a unique experience on the water. Your charter goes beyond catching fish or sight seeing; you will learn about the amazing Atlantic waters surrounding Chatham.
Capt. Darren is also a graduate of Sea Education Association where he spent 12 weeks in study and 6 weeks offshore circumnavigating the Caribbean Sea as crew aboard the 110’ Schooner, SSV Corwith Cramer (C148). He has also worked on numerous commercial fishing vessels out of Chatham and New Bedford and spent several years as a commercial lobsterman. Having worked with many captains on both commercial and charter boats, he understands what it takes to not only be a safe captain, but a friendly captain. You won’t find a surly and grumpy attitude aboard his vessel and Darren will strive to have fun and make sure his patrons feel welcomed and comfortable. Attitude makes the difference!
Darren has also traveled extensively to fish foreign seas and surf world class waves. He’s sailed the islands of Indonesia, dove on reefs around the planet, and surfed in every ocean but the Arctic. He respects and understands the ocean and wants you to have a wonderful experience with Monomoy Sportfishing. So come aboard!
